1. Lady Gaga’s iconic meat dress for the 2010 VMA’s

American Singer/Songwriter appeared at the 2010 VMA’s wearing a dress made entirely out of raw beef designed by Franc Fernandez and was also accompanied by discharged gay ex-militants. She explained that the dress was to signify a protest against the US military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, which prohibited service people from disclosing their sexual identity. The unusual dress sparked controversy amongst the media and is still largely talked about today.

2. Christina Aguilera’s 2002 ‘Dirty’ music video look- the beginning of her ‘Chaps era’.

Christina Aguilera began her ‘Chaps Era’ after the release of her music video ‘Dirrty’. The music video included the singer in cowboy-like trousers that revealed her butt and a bikini top. The video also depicts sexual fetishes such as mud wrestling and muscle worshipping. The controversial music video eliminated her previous image as an innocent bubble gum pop singer and introduced the singer in a different light.

3. Jeniffer Lopez 2000 Grammys look.

Singer and Actress, J-Lo, wore a green Versace dress to the Grammys in 2000. The dress featured a floaty open front, exposing her legs and cleavage. The dress became Google’s most popular search at the time and further led Google to create ‘Google Image Search’ because of the fiery look. 

4. Paulina Rubio 2005 VMA’s look

Paulina Rubio’s completely transparent dress turned heads at the 2005 VMA’s. Critics expressed that the Mexican singer had ‘too much skin’ showing for such an event.

Bjork has always been eccentric with her fashion sense, but her 2001 Oscars shone. The pop singer wore a fake swan draped around her neck to the red carpet-event. Her fashion sense was interpreted as unusual and weird as she stood out amongst other celebs in glamourous gowns. Bjork was further stunned that evening after pretending to lay an egg on the red carpet that evening.
